Saint Louis Art Museam

Guest Experience / Digital Transformation
Project Overview
Noble partnered with the Saint Louis Art Museum to craft a holistic digital signage and content management solution. Grounded in SLAM’s mission and visitor insights, this system integrates dynamic wayfinding, rich media, and robust backend tools to guide diverse audiences seamlessly through the museum’s spaces.
The Challenge
Visitor Disorientation: Guests arriving at Taylor Hall struggled to identify entrances, locate amenities (ramps, restrooms, galleries), and distinguish ticketed zones.
Diverse Audiences: SLAM serves first‑time tourists, families, art enthusiasts, and visitors with accessibility needs, each requiring tailored navigation and content.
Cultural & Historical Context: Any intervention needed to respect David Chipperfield’s modern–Beaux‑Arts design language while reflecting SLAM’s identity.
Data & Systems Integration: Real‑time event schedules, emergency messaging, and indoor mapping systems had to feed into a unified signage network.
Content Management Complexity: SLAM required an interface empowering multiple staff roles to create, schedule, and monitor content across varied screen types.
The Opportunity
Holistic Wayfinding Experience: Deliver location‑aware, multilingual guidance that blends digital and analog cues.
Dynamic Visitor Engagement: Spark curiosity through timely exhibit highlights, event teasers, and multimedia storytelling.
Operational Efficiency: Streamline content updates, system health monitoring, and cross‑departmental collaboration.
Future‑Ready Platform: Establish a CMS‑driven framework adaptable for museum‑wide digital transformation.
